Medovate demo ground-breaking anaesthesia innovation at Future Surgery

Medovate is delighted to announce they will be demonstrating their revolutionary device for regional anaesthesia, SAFIRA® (SAFer Injection for Regional Anaesthesia) at the Future Surgery Show 2021.

Cambridge based Medovate will be joining the Association for British HealthTech Industries (ABHI)’s ‘Surgical Simulation Theatre of The Future’ at this year’s event, which will replicate a fully working operating theatre, giving world-class surgeons a platform to demonstrate the latest pioneering surgical techniques.

As part of their session, Dr Ben Fox, a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn, will be demonstrating and sharing his experiences of introducing the award winning SAFIRA® technology into clinical practice.

Tracy Eke, Marketing Manager at Medovate comments: “We are delighted to be joining the ABHI Pavilion at this year’s Future Surgery Show, where we will be demonstrating our innovative device for regional anaesthesia. The technology has been developed by working with clinical innovators within the NHS and is a fantastic illustration of how the NHS can be a true driver for innovation. We are excited to be offering the world-class audiences at Future Surgery a chance to see our game-changing device in action.”

SAFIRA® is an innovative technology which is revolutionising the regional anaesthesia process. The new technology transforms regional anaesthesia into a single operator procedure, giving anaesthetists full control of injection, as well as enhancing confidence through a built-in safety mechanism to automatically prevent injection above 20psi to reduce the risk of nerve injury.

Already in use by clinicians across the world, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, including reports of how the device facilitates hydro-dissection and reduces the amount of local anaesthetic required for a successful block. SAFIRA® recently won the HSJ Patient Safety Innovation of the Year 2021.

The ABHI Surgical Simulation Theatre of the Future celebrates collaborations between healthcare providers, clinicians and healthcare technology companies, allowing visitors to watch Britain’s best surgeons in action.

Paul Benton, Managing Director, International, ABHI, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Future of Surgery 2021. The event is dedicated to all that is new in surgery and provides a truly unique platform for experts and innovators in surgery to come together. We are excited to be hosting a dedicated ABHI Pavilion for the first time and look forward to being joined by Medovate and give attendees a chance to see their ground-breaking technology in action.”

Medovate’s session ‘Mitigating for nerve injury during Regional Anaesthesia: introducing SAFIRA®’ with Tracy Eke and Dr Ben Fox will take place on Tuesday 9th November, 11:25 – 11:45. The session will showcase how the new technology transforms Regional Anaesthesia into a single operator procedure.

The Medovate team will also be at the exhibition (stand SS8) to showcase SAFIRA® and be on hand to discuss any questions regarding the future of surgery with SAFIRA®.
