Vernacare invest £1.3m in facility to increase production of wet wipes
Vernacare has announced investment in its flagship manufacturing facility in Chorley. The £1.3 million pound investment into the additional state-of-the-art wet wipes machine will significantly increase manufacturing capacity at the facility.
James Steele, CEO at Vernacare commented. “During the past 18-months, we worked incredibly hard to supply crucial products to healthcare environments across the world, and reliable British manufacturing was at the heart of meeting demand for much needed products throughout the NHS, private hospitals and in care homes.
“It is fantastic that, as a British manufacturer, we are expanding on what we already have at Matrix Park in Chorley and continue to invest and employ in the local area, with the backing of our investors HIG”
In March 2021 Vernacare acquired Robinson Healthcare which brought with it additional manufacturing capacity in the North of England, with the addition of two wet wipes manufacturing lines and fluid mixing facility.
Rachel Downham, Global Category Director commented “As Pioneers of infection prevention, we feel this investment secures the safety of our customers. We have invested £1.3million, this will extend capacity significantly.”
“The new machine will produce wet wipes for patient bathing, hand hygiene, surface cleaning and disinfection - providing improved flexibility, giving us the ability to develop products and offer an even more bespoke service to our valued customers.”
Elizabeth Jamieson, Senior Product Manager added “A core area of focus of the new machine is sustainability and further improving the environmental impact of our wet wipe product ranges. We’re continuously looking to reduce plastic waste whilst working towards the inclusion of recycled plastic content across several packaging formats. Many of our latest wipe developments are manufactured from sustainable plant-based materials that are 100% plastic free”.
Vernacare continue with ongoing efforts to make single-use products sustainable. The new machine will enable the production of larger flow-wrap packs with clip lock lids, providing a viable alternative to wipes housed in large plastic containers, significantly reducing plastic waste across the wide spectrum of household healthcare brands.
Vernacare have over 40 years’ experience manufacturing market-leading healthcare brands; sold into 25 global markets, such as Conti® skin cleansing wipes, Oasis® waterless bathing solutions and Azo™ surface cleaning and disinfection wipes, used widely in the NHS and across the health and social care sector.
