Efficiency and safety in medicines management

Sara Dalmasso reflects how automating the medication management process has been supporting hospitals during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past year, we have seen dramatic increases in COVID-19 cases with rapidly rising hospital admissions during the UK’s first and second waves of infections. Though UK COVID hospital admissions are now falling, much of Europe is battling a third wave. Governments are taking drastic action to try and prevent the spread of the virus with many countries recently implementing new lockdown measures to protect patients and healthcare systems, many of which are already over stretched. This latest increase in admissions is placing an additional burden on hospitals as the backlog of patients with other pressing conditions grows bigger and bigger. This is a problem the UK is now also facing as we gradually come out of lockdown.

As the pandemic and its impact continue to put a strain on hospital resources, its crucial healthcare suppliers do all we can to support front line staff and patients. Now more than ever people need to come together and work in partnership to protect our valued healthcare services.
