The EBME chairman, Dr. John Sandham, discusses what to expect at the EBME Expo, being held in the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, in Autumn 2020.
The EBME Expo is an independent exhibition and conference bringing together healthcare professionals that are responsible for the management, procurement, operation, and maintenance of medical equipment. This includes staff such as engineers, nurses, doctors, buyers, ODPs, and other healthcare professionals interested in medical technology.
The aim of the Expo is to showcase the latest innovations in medical technology and impart best practice with regard to asset management, acquisition, use, and maintenance, especially with regard to raising awareness of how improved management of healthcare technology and connectivity can lead to better NHS productivity and lower healthcare costs. Ultimately, sharing knowledge will lead to advances in best practice, enhancing patient safety and helping hospitals to deliver sustainable budgets.
The Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health, stated that: “Better technology is not a ‘nice to have’ but a vital to have for the NHS. When people say that better technology is a ‘nice to have’ that costs too much, I say wrong again. Better technology is vital to have and embracing it is the only way to make the NHS sustainable over the long term.
