New partnership to create the NHS ‘Event of the Year’

A major new conference and exhibition, ConfedExpo, will create the largest NHS event in the UK, bringing together NHS England and NHS Improvement’s Expo with the NHS Confederation’s annual gathering.

Both organisations want this to become a single point of focus for senior leaders, clinicians and innovators from across the health and care sector.

Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation (pictured), said: “Our ambition for ConfedExpo is to deliver the most impactful, thought provoking and valuable experience for healthcare leaders and their teams.

“It will be an opportunity to share ideas, to exchange experience and explore the wealth of innovation that will transform the services we provide making them more effective and more efficient.  We hope that this partnership with NHS England and Improvement will deliver the biggest and the best event the NHS has seen.

“The NHS Confederation is preparing to launch networks for primary care and STPs/ICSs and this event will be very much aimed at this new cadre of leaders.”

Professor Stephen Powis, NHS national medical director, said: “ConfedExpo will be the biggest health and care conference in the UK - attracting thousands of people from across the NHS including frontline staff, leaders, social care partners, charities and many more – helping everyone to improve their skills, knowledge and ultimately patients’ care and experience.

“As we deliver the NHS Long Term Plan, the event this year will give an important opportunity to hear from those who are ramping up mental health support, speeding up diagnosis of killer diseases, rolling out world-leading innovation and putting in place the right support for our world-class workforce.”

According to the organisers, ConfedExpo, which takes place over two days, will:

  • Showcase and share the collaborations and partnerships between health, social care and others that are delivering improvements
  • Support health and social care staff and organisations to provide high-quality care by showcasing and sharing best practice and demonstrating how it is making a difference to patients’ lives
  • Feature a wealth of engaging content across the main stages, break-out sessions, workshops and feature zones
  • Create unparalleled networking opportunities for leaders from across health and care to share perspectives, learn from one another, and be inspired to find new solutions to common challenges.
