The British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Annual Meeting takes place at Glasgow SEC from 17-20 June 2019 and draws delegates from the ranks of physicians, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, and nurses. The Clinical Services Journal explores what’s on offer at this year’s conference and exhibition.
For 2019, the BSG Annual Meeting programme provides 55 basic science and clinical symposia - including state-of-the-art lectures, free paper sessions and clinical updates. For the first time, a second plenary symposium will finish the conference on Thursday 20 June at 2.00 to 3.30pm, and will include three prize winning abstract presentations, as well as a talk from the CEO of Ipsos MORI, Ben Page about public views of their health service.
According to Dr Nick Thompson, BSG senior secretary and chair of the programme committee, the event, for the first time, will have two joint symposia with another national group - the IBD section having joint sessions with the French GETAID group, demonstrating the BSG’s internationalist perspective. Some sessions will be interactive and live Twitter feeds will be displayed on screens around the venue.
Dr Thompson commented: “The Gastroenterology Masterclass on Monday 17 June will provide updates across a broad range of GI, Liver and Endoscopic topics. The masterclass is followed by the trainee section’s symposium. The topic for the Thursday Scientific Translational Masterclass is ‘Bench to Bedside FMT’ and this looks like being a running topic during the conference.”
