Simplify diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis

The new IMMY sõna Aspergillus Galactomannan Lateral Flow Assay is now available in the UK exclusively from Alpha Laboratories.

The immunochromatographic test system for the qualitative detection of Aspergillus Galactomannan in serum and BAL samples, has been developed to provide a simplified test procedure and rapid turnaround time for the diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis.

Aspergillus GM LFA provides high sensitivity and specificity, while the simple format and rapid 30 minute test time eliminates the need for batch testing. When used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures such as microbiological culture, histological examination of biopsy samples and radiographic evidence, the Aspergillus GM LFA aids the diagnosis of aspergillosis. Improved diagnostics could lead to better treatment outcomes and higher survival rates.

Over 30 million people are at risk of invasive aspergillosis each year and over 300,000 patients develop it annually. The disease is common in high risk patients with: haematological malignancies, chemotherapyinduced neutropenia, allogeneic HSCT (stem cell transplant) and who have undergone solid organ transplant (primarily lung).
