AfPP launches festival of surgery in primary care

The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) will be launching the 1st Festival of Surgery in Primary Care, which will run concurrently with its Annual Congress and Exhibition, to be held on 10-11 October at the Harrogate International Conference Centre.

The festival will include a mix of practical sessions for practice nurses, practice managers and dentists, which will combine with lectures for GPs and surgeons undertaking or planning to undertake surgery in primary care settings. The practical sessions will focus on decontamination and infection control in primary care, while the lectures will describe how the move to delivering surgical services in a primary care setting is changing patient care.

The speakers include: David Colin-Thome, the national clinical director for primary care; Raj Dhumale, president of the Association of Surgeons in Primary Care and Probus Surgery Cornwall; and Ewen Harrison, president of the Association of Surgeons in Training – as well as other leading experts in decontamination.
