This year marked the 50th occasion of the annual meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), and their biggest congress yet. Meeting in Prague, over 4,600 experts from 96 countries researchingand working in the fields of children’s gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition came together to discuss, debate, and present new and exciting research.
Fifty years ago, ESPGHAN began as a small gathering of experts and friends, numbering no more than a few hundred, but it has grown in size and in influence to become the organisation it is today, with over 1,000 expert members and many more thousand attending the annual meeting. The congress still retains its original values, it remains a welcoming and friendly environment for the sharing of knowledge and the fostering of relationships for future collaborative work.
The annual meeting is a forum of exchange for practitioners and the industry alike, it sees a blend of basic research and clinical science. ESPGHAN place great emphasis on the importance of young researchers and clinicians and the congress embraces new talent, giving opportunities to network, learn and further their work wherever possible.
