Delegates attending this year’s Theatres & Decontamination Conference heard about a focus on driving improvements in patient safety and efficiency.
Aimed at NHS managers and leads in theatres, sterile services and decontamination, the Theatres & Decontamination Conference took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and was hosted by the National Performance Advisory Group (NPAG) - a trading division of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Attendees were presented with a conference programme with topics ranging from the application of human factors; to tackling key challenges in decontamination, such as post-operation instrument treatment. The event also provided an opportunity for delegates to meet other key stakeholders who work towards patient safety.
Professor David Perrett, Professor Emeritus of BioAnalytical Science, Barts & the London School of Medicine, opened proceedings with a presentation entitled ‘The science behind ProReveal’. ProReveal is a fluorescence-based patented protein detection test for checking the presence of residual protein on surgical instruments after going through a washer disinfector process.
