Heart failure is often poorly diagnosed and public awareness is low. However, a recent inquiry by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Heart Disease has examined how care could be improved and lives transformed. Co-chairs of the Alliance for Heart Failure, Professor Andrew Clark and Angela Graves, provide an insight into the recommendations.

Over the summer, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Heart Disease, chaired by Stuart Andrew MP (Cons, Pudsey) has been quietly and efficiently gathering and analysing evidence for its Inquiry into the NHS’s approach to heart failure. The Inquiry’s report – Focus on Heart Failure – was published on 13th September.1

Unlike many reports on the NHS, the APPG work actually stands a chance of being adopted and implemented. There are three reasons why we believe this.
