Building on the commitments outlined in the NHS Five Year Forward View, a new ‘Forward View’ has been developed specifically for general practice, which sets out plans to tackle some of the challenges facing Primary Care.
In October 2014, the NHS Five Year Forward View set out a ‘blueprint’ for the future of the NHS, covering a broad range of strategic areas – such as an increased focus on prevention, greater integration of health and social care, along with a pledge to increase investment in Primary Care. The vision set out a number of commitments for general practice, including plans to:
Building on this vision, NHS England has now launched its General Practice Forward View,2 developed in partnership with the Royal College of General Practitioners and Health Education England. With the new vision also comes the promise of further investment.
