Applications are now open for the next intake in September of Eastwood Park’s hospital engineering degrees. There are three degrees: Foundation Degree in Hospital Engineering; Foundation Degree in Medical Equipment Technologies and a BSc (Hons) Management of Healthcare Engineering Technologies & Facilities. (The hospital engineering degree incorporates multi engineering disciplines: decontamination; medical gases; HVAC; water hygiene; fire; electrical; estates.)
A degree level qualification helps hospital engineers stand out both within their workplace and employment market, as well as provide employers with a recognised development programme to continue to raise standards. These new degree qualifications can be attained while working and are open to those working in medical equipment, hospital engineering and in estates and facilities disciplines. The foundation programmes are part-time over a two-year period and delivered as worked-based learning, enabling learning in the workplace, through workbooks, online study and direct practice. The foundation degree leads to an optional third year of study to achieve a BSc (Hons).
Eastwood Park has already delivered its first residential ‘degrees’ weekend, welcoming the first cohort of learners onto its new hospital engineering degree programmes. Klaus Muecher, Eastwood Park’s higher education programmes manager commented: “Our residential study and assessment weekends like the one held this month, assist in embedding the learning and help with knowledge share and networking with like-minded students.” He added that there will be a high level of support throughout the programme to ensure those who may not have studied for some years, perhaps since gaining their trade and professional qualifications, are comfortable and encouraged with the learning programme.
Eastwood Park is a specialist training provider for healthcare engineering, estates and facilities management training and is continually presenting opportunities to improve competencies and raise standards within healthcare.
