New state-of-the-art diagnostic suite for Manchester

Nuffield Health, working together with Royal Philips has announced the opening of a state-ofthe-art diagnostic suite to provide imaging and wellbeing services to the people of Manchester.

Housed at Citylabs on Oxford Street, and directly opposite Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, the suite will make a portion of its diagnostic services available to patients referred from the NHS to provide increased access to imaging procedures (including MR, X-Ray, Ultrasound and CT).

As well as increasing the number and type of diagnostic scans available to the people of Manchester, and with a focus on orthopaedics and cardiology diagnostics, the suite is part of a holistic health network in the region that aims to make more facilities available to the population and promote innovation in research.

Barbara Baker, Manchester market director for Nuffield Health, said: “In Manchester we are seeing a real enthusiasm around the devolution agenda, which dovetails into our vision of offering a fully integrated health and wellbeing proposition. Our new suite is equipped with the very latest diagnostic and imaging technology, which will serve the healthcare framework across Manchester and our patients will benefit hugely from a more comfortable and relaxed experience.”

The suite, opened by former 800m world champion athlete Diane Modahl, offers advanced facilities for patients as well as professionals including the first UK In-Bore installation, which lets patients choose from a series of relaxing visual themes with accompanying sounds from
Philips’ Ambient Experience technology. The suite also aims to provide a new level of integrated state-of-the-art facilities incorporating preventative and tertiary care by offering a range of services such as health assessments, physiotherapy and GP consultationsalongside imaging services.

“Philips is excited to support any innovative collaboration between private and public health providers, such as with this initiative, that delivers high quality patient care,” commented Ian Graves, director of imaging systems at Philips. “This type of agreement exemplifies the vision laid out by the Government’s Five Year Forward View, whereby NHS and private service providers are able to sit side-by-side and truly complement each other.”
