Approaches to enhance recovery after surgery and prevention of surgical site infection were high on the agenda at the QIST conference, hosted by the Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
Quality Improvement for Surgical Teams (QIST) took place over two days at The Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel, Newcastle, and was attended by 240 orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, managers, commissioners, pharmacists and allied health professionals, from across the UK.
The educational day provided an opportunity to share knowledge and best practice with the aim of improving quality of care and outcomes for patients – from interventions to reduce mortality in hip fracture patients, to the implementation of NICE quality standards relating to SSI.
