The Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) will host its annual conference and exhibition, 1-3 December 2014, at the Hilton Hotel Blackpool. High on the agenda will be raising standards in endoscope decontamination. The ‘dental dilemma’ will also be discussed.
The risks associated with medical device reprocessing have had a very high public profile following the emergence of Creutzfeldt Jacob Disease (CJD). The requirement for prion deactivation during the decontamination process has led to a major review of traditional standards and practice in all areas of decontamination from acute sterile service departments (SSDs) to GP practices, endoscopy and dental services.
At the IDSc annual conference, experts in decontamination will highlight the continuing challenges across a variety of settings, reviewing the latest research and guidance, as well as offering an insight into new approaches and technologies, aimed at improving patient safety.
