Surgical glove proven to prevent hand bacteria re-growth

The results of a randomised, doubleblind, single centre trial, published in Surgical Infections, found that surgeons wearing ANSELL Gammex PF AMT gloves had 20 times less bacteria on their hands after two hours of surgery.

The Gammex PF AMT antimicrobial surgical glove incorporates an antiviral and antimicrobial inside layer in a conventional surgical glove. In addition to killing viruses (including HIV and Hepatitis C) and bacteria (including MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli) present in patient fluids, the glove’s active layer can prevent re-growth of hand bacteria by 95%.

The glove’s active properties can contribute to reducing the occurrence of surgeon-to-patient surgical site infections, protecting the wearer and the patient.
