ATI Atlas is celebrating 65 years of continuous activity. The company was one of the first manufacturers to utilise polymers to produce reusable, unbreakable and autoclavable syringes.
Many of these units are still sold into industrial applications where syringes that are inert to hydrocarbons, such as aviation, where glass devices are not permitted. The company refocused on microbial quality control. Managing director, Nigel Chitty explains: “Trying sell the concept of QA products using bacterial spores and horseshoe crab blood cells to medical manufacturers in the 1970s was a challenge. With the experience of millions of tests, they have both proven themselves to be useful in controlling critical areas of healthcare security and quality. It has been a good experience to gain the confidence of clients over a long period and with new regulations, we see the use of biological indicators, in particular, expanding in current usage and into other areas where validating sterilisation and disinfecting processes is required.”
