Weighing elderly patients can be difficult, and can turn a simple, yet necessary routine into a time-consuming procedure. SECA has created a set of scales which takes into account the varied requirements of geriatric care, including the seca 959 and the wheelchair scale, seca 677.
In addition to their practical features, both scales work wirelessly and transmit weight data to a wireless printer or to a PC. The seca 959 enables a seated patient to be weighed. The seat is comfortable yet stable. Foot supports can be stowed completely under the seat, leaving room for the patient to stand up or lower themselves onto the chair. This particular feature makes routine work much easier. When the nurse rolls the chair scale to the patient from behind, for example, there is no danger of bumping into the patient’s Achilles heel or ankles. The arm rests can also be folded out of the way when the patient is moved sideways onto the chair scale from a bed or wheelchair. The chair is also equipped with an ergonomically shaped handle that lets the user push the chair scale effortlessly in any direction. The large platform on the seca 677, can accommodate a standing patient with or without a walker or a patient seated on a chair or in a wheelchair. After the weight of the chair or wheelchair has been determined (Pre-TARE function), the patient simply moves onto the platform and the extra weight is deducted. The scale is also equipped with a sturdy handrail to support unsteady patients. With a maximum capacity of 300 kg, the scale also allows assisted weighing.
