In these difficult financial times, electro-biomedical engineering departments are seeking ways to improve efficiency, consolidate the costs of multi-vendor service contracts, maximise the uptime of expensive equipment and ensure the safety of medical devices.
Olympus has introduced its Multi-Vendor Service to support EBME departments to achieve their goals.
Olympus has a long history of innovation in the field of endoscope development, but over the years has further evolved into becoming a ‘solutions provider’ – supplying, installing and servicing a diverse range of equipment, including electro-medical products used in theatre – from light sources, monitors and processors, to diathermy and insufflating machines. Olympus also provides integrated operating theatres. Under the brand name Olympus Endo Alpha, the company provides a range of products and services to deliver endoscopy suites and operating theatres – from the initial design concept, through to managing the construction, installation and commissioning of the state-of-the-art facilities. Like many other large medical device manufacturers, Olympus provides service agreements and training for the many products that it supplies to health organisations within the UK. However, the company is now going much further by expanding its capabilities to support the many electro-biomedical engineering (EBME) departments across the country with a diverse range of value added services aimed at improving uptime of equipment, delivering better management of costs, enhancing patient safety, and reducing the need for repairs through dedicated training.
