Increasing ward entry hand hygiene compliance

Designed in conjunction with NHS infection prevention specialists, the PURE HOLD Hygiene Handle is a pull door handle that automatically dispenses virucidal gel directly onto the users hand, ensuring that every person that opens the door cleans their hands, every time.

Infections such as MRSA and norovirus cause hundreds of lost bed days/closed wards each year, and dirty door handles can routinely contaminate hands, spreading germs quickly. The Hygiene Handle cleans both hands and the handle in one elegant, effective design. The Hygiene Handle does not replace the need for ‘point-of-care’ hand hygiene, but is designed to be used in conjunction with it to reduce the risk of infections being brought in from the community and spreading between staff, patients and wards. In trials, the Pure Hold Hygiene Handle increased rates of hand hygiene compliance at ward entry by over 700%.
