‘Glue and go’ solution

A major advance in wound closure technology has been unveiled by Sheffield-based healthcare company B. BRAUN MEDICAL.

The company’s super strength ‘skin glue’ Histoacryl – used in hospitals throughout the world – has now been developed for use by mobile medics. The solution seals wounds in seconds, providing an anti-bacterial barrier which helps keep out common forms of bacteria including MRSA. The water-resistant adhesive breaks down naturally in 7-10 days for much better cosmetic healing results than traditional suturing. B.Braun has launched an aluminium pouch for the ampoules of Histoacryl so they no longer need to be refrigerated and can be used anywhere.
