Bipolar and monopolar cables promise 300 autoclavings

While most instrument cables have a life of between 40 and 50 autoclavings, the Bowa range of bipolar and monopolar cables, available in the UK from CATERHAM SURGICAL, are said to offer a life of around 300 autoclavings.

Using a combination of silicone on their cables; glass fibre reinforced plugs; and a sealing technology to bond them together, it has been possible to reduce the typical damage caused by fluid ingress, making the cables more durable, yet costing less than 20 pence per cycle. Bowa cables have been designed for use with most generators on the market.
