Aberdeen moves to UV decontamination

Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has installed two Nanoclave decontamination cabinets within its central decontamination unit.

The Nanoclave cabinets will provide a ‘fast, repeatable decontamination solution’ for ward-based medical devices and electronic equipment through their patent-protected ultraviolet (UVC) light decontamination technology. The cabinets are clinically effective against all problematic pathogens on a broad range of medical equipment and electronic devices and offer a 60-second decontamination cycle to achieve a Log 5 reduction. The two units will be used for the high-level disinfection of ward-based medical devices and electronic equipment, such as infusion and suction pumps, patient monitors, ultrasound equipment and many other non-invasive wardbased devices that cannot be immersed or subjected to high temperatures, as part of their decontamination process.
