Tap helps prevent spread of infection

The Optitherm thermostatic tap from HORNE includes a variety of features that help to prevent the spread of infection including facilitating good management of the water system.

Good water system management reduces the risk of colonisation and potential infection by waterborne bacteria such as Legionella and Pseudomonas. HTM 04-01 recommends a thermal regime for bacterial control: hot water supply at 60°C and the cold water supply below 20°C. Optitherm’s design also facilitates periodic high velocity pipe flushing to remove excess biofilm and remove it to drain, improving water quality. Full compliance also requires the periodic disinfection of terminal fittings and Optitherm’s Thermal Disinfection Adaptor can be used to sanitise the internal wetted surfaces by passing hot water at 60°C or above through the cold port of the integral mixing valve to the outlet.
