Designed to break the chain of infection

Healthy hand hygiene habits are vital in the fight against the spread of HCAIs, but its more than just hands that require cleaning to truly break the chain of infection.

Having worked closely with acute healthcare facilities over the years, GOJO understand the barriers to hand hygiene performance and the needs of healthcare workers. The high frequency with which many healthcare workers have to use hygiene products means that it is imperative that formulations are gentle on the skin, thereby not damaging their hands.

Efficacy is an important issue, so only those companies who can prove the effectiveness of their soaps or hand rubs against germs through independent scientific testing should be considered. Similarly, formulations that have been tested and passed in accordance with key hospital norms EN 1500, EN 14476 and EN 12791, provide assurance that they are safe for use in healthcare locations. However, the best products will successfully combine efficacy with soothing, moisturising ingredients that are gentle on the skin, meaning that staff can use the products again and again, knowing that their hands will be kept in good condition.

More than just hands

THE INVENTORS OF PURELL™ have expanded their portfolio and have launched a new range of products designed to help prevent the transfer of infection at multiple touch points such as bed areas, meal trays and medical equipment.

The new wipes range is for skin and body cleansing, including continence care, hand and surface sanitising and medical device disinfection. The four separate products which are manufactured under pharmaceutical control, include:

  • PURELL® Skin Cleansing wipes – enriched with moisturising aloe vera and softening argan oil, gentle on the skin and designed for frequent use, perfect for both healthcare workers and patients to clean hands, faces and maintain healthy skin
  • PURELL Body Cleansing wipes – designed for patients’ personal hygiene, primarily for continence care. These alcohol free wipes have been gynaecologically and dermatologically tested and leave the skin feeling soft and refreshed
  • PURELL Hand & Surface Sanitising wipes – a multi-purpose disinfecting wipe designed for use on surfaces, class I medical devices and safe for regular use on hands
  • LPK Medical Device Disinfecting wipes – contain a broad spectrum antimicrobial which is approved for use on Class I and Class IIa (non-invasive) medical devices without rough surfaces.

Technology for targeted training

Combining their skin and surface hygiene expertise, and market leading brands, GOJO have launched their latest technological advancement, their OBV app, at this year’s IPS 2016. The OBV app, as part of their SMARTLINK™ technology, helps to improve the efficiency of completing hand hygiene audits, delivering targeted reporting to help improve hand hygiene performance.

Saving lives and making life better through well-being solutions is the GOJO purpose and it drives innovation in hand hygiene, skin care and surface disinfection. GOJO continues to be at the forefront of research to develop products that deliver results and break the chain of infection.
