Vernacare sets 'gold standard' for hygienic patient washing and toileting at Infection Prevention 2016

Vernacare's single-use system of hygienic patient washing and toileting will be showcased at the Infection Prevention Society's annual conference (26-28 September), in Harrogate, on stand 41.

94% of NHS Trusts use the 'Vernacare System', which has been adopted in over 50 countries worldwide. The system is a safer, greener and more convenient alternative to traditional reusable methods of handling and disposing of human waste.

Vernacare will display its latest innovation, the new VernaChair commode, which was developed in collaboration with healthcare clinicians. It combines durability with an easy-clean design to help reduce healthcare associated infections including Clostridium difficile (C.diff). The chair comprises of only 6 easy-to-assemble parts, which effortlessly slot together without clips or screws. Additionally, its strong, corrosion-resistant frame can be conveniently cleaned using a variety of methods.

The product can also be used for showering with the addition of the VernaChair shower seat attachment.

The newly launched large Maxi-WashBowl, which removes the infection risk of reusable plastic bowls, will also be on display. This 6-litre fibre-moulded bowl holds detergent and hot water for up to two hours and can be used for a wide variety of patient care purposes, including leg ulcer bathing, infant bathing and emptying catheter bags, as well as for hospital cleaning. The Maxi-WashBowl complements Vernacare's original smaller capacity 4-litre Queen's Award-winning wash bowl.

Vernacare's comprehensive range of single-use products will also be showcased, including the VernaFem female urinal, which has recently been re-designed to hold twice the usable capacity.

The company will also showcase its Vortex+ disposal unit, which is entirely hands-free and sets new standards in infection prevention.
